About Oasis
Current membership exceeds 600 and is growing. There are two levels of membership in the Oasis. They are General Membership for those 50 years of age and living in Santa Barbara County and Associate Membership for those under the age of 50 or living outside Santa Barbara County. Associate Members are often children or other family members of our general membership. Associate members make great volunteers to help support or programs for seniors. Volunteers give the life and energy needed to keep the OASIS alive and strong. Our seniors are truly the heart of OASIS.
OASIS stands for Orcutt Area Seniors In Service, Inc. Since 1984 OASIS, Inc. has served as a premier senior advocate agency for Northern Santa Barbara County. Oasis, Inc is privately funded through private donations, event income and community grants.
The Luis Oasis Senior Center is owned by OASIS, Inc. and located on land owned by Orcutt Union School District, leased to us at $1.00 per year. This land is scheduled for further development by the school district, mandating that we relocate the Luis Oasis Senior Center to a new site.

The Luis Oasis Senior Center is operated by the Orcutt Area Seniors In Service, Inc. a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation. We provide commodities distribution (free food for qualifying members), a daily lunch program, homeowners and renters tax aid, PACE, and more.

In collaboration with Allan Hancock Community College we host classes in senior aerobics, yoga, painting, drawing, etc, and groups for bereavement support, such as ceramics, creative card making, the Oasis Ukulele Band, etc.

We also encourage local groups to use the center as a meeting place for potlucks, special events and fund raisers. For more information on renting our facility visit the Rentals page.
History

The Oasis began in 1984 with a membership of 97. Through the efforts of founder members led by Alice Shaw, a site was found on Orcutt Union School District land, which is leased at $1 per year. The center was named for the Luis family of Orcutt, who have made significant financial contributions to the center over the years. Capital and operating funds are raised from grants, public donations and fundraising.
